This was a very special Christmas for us with a Ken Farris solo art show & painting demonstration taking place while a singer & performer sang holiday & show tunes for the residents of Delmar Gardens West. My wife’s mother, who is a resident of Delmar was our inspiration for the show.
The art exhibition consisted of 10 paintings I had created over the years of winter scenes as well as 3 paintings I created as a benefit fundraiser for the Missouri Alliance for Animal Legislation. (The Alliance used these images for their 2008 holiday cards, which was a banner success for them!)
During the Demonstration for the residents, I completed a painting that was 22×28 which I had designed to be split into four paintings upon completion. Four residents were lucky enough to win these 4 paintings by raffle.
Co-Owner of Framations Art Gallery, Amy Wilson, graciously donated four beautilful 2″ gold frames for these paintings, too! In addition, Amy & my wife Dee created 200 ornaments with an image of my “Santa Harley Dog” painting that we gave to every resident so that all of them would receive a special present! After the events were over, we helped each of the four residents hang their framed painting in their rooms.
The residents had a fabulous time & I think we really made their Christmas a very special one for them! I know it was a very special one for me.
Here are some photos from the day:
